Andrea's Favorite Yoga Mats
It isn't necessary to own a yoga mat to do Autoimmune Strong, but I do enjoy having one.
It helps me to set up my space, so that I am focused and intentional about what I am doing. It also creates a cushion for my body against the floor (especially when I lay it on top of a rug).
When I begin to exercise, I roll out my yoga mat, and it helps me make that little commitment to myself- by mind and my body knows that I am going to exercise now.
You do not need a yoga mat to be successful at accomplishing your Autoimmune Strong exercises- any place on the floor will work just fine.
But if you are like me and want a comfy, cushioned place to work out, these are my favorite yoga mats.
I recommend choosing a yoga mat that works with your budget and goals. (All the big box stores sell them at low prices, and you can usually find them at the Dollar Store as well).
It’s all about what is most comfortable for you and what gets you most excited to create a small fitness space in your home you’ll want to return to every day!
Here are three great options, varying in thickness and price. (FYI- These are affiliate links, so I do get a very small percentage of the proceeds when you order)
Affordable Option: The Primasole Yoga Mat with Carry Strap for Yoga Pilates Fitness and Floor Workout at Home and Gym is an awesome under $20 choice that comes in a variety of bright colors. You can get it in ⅓ inch or ¼ inch thickness.
A Thicker Yoga Mat Option: Gaiam Yoga Mat - Premium 6mm Print Reversible Extra Thick Non Slip Exercise & Fitness Mat for All Types of Yoga, Pilates & Floor Workouts is great because it’s reversible, thick, and lightweight. You can choose from a variety of eclectic colors and patterns and its sticky no-slip texture makes it great for more rigorous movements.
Extra Thick Option: Hatha Yoga Extra Thick TPE Yoga Mat with High Density Anti-Tear Exercise Bolster For Home Gym Travel & Floor Outside is for those looking to invest a bit more in their yoga mat. Costing almost $60, this option is tear-proof, extra thick, and just a generally great option for all sorts of exercises and joint support.
